Gene Enley Named Littleton Police Chief

City Manager Jim Becklenberg has appointed Gene Enley as chief of the Littleton Police Department. 

Enley brings more than 31 years of law enforcement experience, including 28 years serving the Littleton community. Throughout his career with the Littleton Police Department, he has risen through the ranks as officer, sergeant, lieutenant, commander, division chief and now chief. His appointment follows three previous terms serving as interim chief, demonstrating the organization’s confidence in his leadership during periods of transition. 

“Gene has dedicated nearly three decades to serving the Littleton community with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to public safety,” Becklenberg said. "Through the recruitment process and his time as interim Chief, Gene demonstrated leadership in new ways and articulated a vision for the Police Department that will help ensure we preserve our core culture while embracing emerging community and workforce expectations. I am excited about the future with Gene’s leadership."

Enley’s career includes extensive experience in patrol, investigations and specialized operations. He served as an undercover officer with the South Metro Drug Task Force and spent 18 years with the Littleton SWAT team, serving as an operator, tactical team leader and commander. He is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command, and the FBI National Academy.

I look forward to working alongside our dedicated employees, strengthening our partnerships with the community and continuing our commitment to providing exceptional public safety services.” 

Enley’s connection to Littleton extends beyond his career. He and his wife, a Littleton Public Schools teacher, have built their lives in the community and raised their family here. His longstanding commitment to public service and to the Littleton community continues to guide his leadership as chief.
