Emergency Alerts

Arapahoe, Jefferson, and Douglas, the three counties that serve the City of Littleton, utilize a state-of-the-art emergency notification system to alert citizens about emergencies (sometimes called "Reverse 9-1-1").

The Littleton Police Department (LPD) works alongside the Arapahoe County 9-1-1 Authority, and other partner agencies (including the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Englewood Police Department, Glendale Police Department, Greenwood Village Police Department, and South Metro Fire Rescue), utilizing an enhanced system that helps keep residents informed and first responders better prepared during emergencies.

ArapAlert allows residents to receive timely alerts about wildfires, evacuations, hazmat incidents, shelter-in-place orders, and other emergency situations via phone call, text message, email, and mobile app push notification—using multiple methods to increase the likelihood of notification. This system is powered by advanced mapping technology, enabling first responders to target alerts to specific neighborhoods or even individual streets. This precision reduces confusion, improves communication, and helps ensure faster, safer evacuations.

LPD encourages all who live or work inside the city limits, regardless of county lines, to sign up to receive these alerts.  LPD would like to specifically encourage residents in the TrailMark neighborhood to sign up for these alerts, even though the neighborhood is located in Jefferson County.

How to Sign Up for Emergency Alerts in Specific Counties

Land lines are already listed in Littleton's county's 9-1-1 database, and are therefore automatically included in the notification system.

Please note that this system will not be used for weather alerts because the timeliness or accuracy of such alerts cannot be guaranteed. There are a variety of other media outlets (TV and radio stations, and weather-related web sites and alerts) that can provide this service in a more timely manner.
