Ammunition Disposal

The Littleton Police Department no longer has an ammunition disposal program. Please do not bring ammunition to the police department.

What to do with old ammunition

• Some local gun ranges and gun stores will take your unwanted rounds and will dispose of them properly. Call the range or shop first to confirm they are collecting.
• The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office accepts ammunition and firearms for destruction.

What not to do with old ammunition

• Please do not throw ammunition in the trash. The trash truck's compactor could cause the cartridge to fire.
• Please do not bury old ammunition. The lead found in many cartridges could leach into local water supply.
