On Wednesday, March 27, Littleton Police Chief Doug Stephens honored many Officers and civilian staff members from the Littleton Police Department (LPD) during an awards ceremony.

The ceremony included commendations ranging from unit citation awards, commendable service awards, the presentation of police star ribbons, lifesaving medals, two medals of valor, and one purple heart. Prior to each award the Chief highlighted the commendable actions of the officers and staff who received each award.

Some of the most notable moments of the ceremony were the presentation of the medals of valor. The medal of valor is the second highest recognition that an officer can receive. The two officers, Officer Michael Lopez and Officer David Snook, were presented this honor for their actions during different circumstances. However, the similarities of how their brave, self-less, and heroic actions prevented further harm to the community was very apparent.

Additionally, many of the commendations were presented to teams of individuals. This fact highlights how the entire department of sworn and non-sworn individuals work together on a daily basis to keep the Littleton community safe.
