The Littleton Police Department and officials urge residents to re-register for faster, more targeted emergency alerts.

The Littleton Police Department (LPD) and the Arapahoe County 9-1-1 Authority, along with partner agencies (including the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Englewood Police Department, Glendale Police Department, Greenwood Village Police Department, and South Metro Fire Rescue) have announced major upgrades to ArapAlert, the County’s emergency notification and 9-1-1 enhancement system that helps keep residents informed and first responders better prepared during emergencies.

ArapAlert allows residents to receive timely alerts about wildfires, evacuations, hazmat incidents, shelter-in-place orders, and other emergency situations via phone call, text message, email, and mobile app push notification—using multiple methods to increase the likelihood of notification. The upgraded system is powered by advanced mapping technology that enables first responders to target alerts to specific neighborhoods or even individual streets. This precision reduces confusion, improves communication, and helps ensure faster, safer evacuations. LPD encourages all who live or work inside the city limits, regardless of county lines, to sign up for these alert. LPD would like to specifically encourage residents in the TrailMark neighborhood to sign up for these alerts, even though the neighborhood is located in Jefferson County.

ArapAlert strengthens our ability to reach residents when it matters most,” said Cathy Raley, executive director of the Arapahoe County 911 Authority. “These updates help us alert people quickly in an emergency and give first responders the information they need to respond more efficiently.”

The Arapahoe County 911 Authority has transitioned from the previous CodeRed platform to Rave Alert to better reach residents and provide critical information more efficiently. All residents—including those previously registered—as well as anyone who works, attends school, or has a loved one in Arapahoe County, must opt in again to continue receiving alerts and access the platform’s new features.

“These enhancements allow residents and first responders to be better informed and better prepared in a time of crisis,” said John Jackson, chair of the Arapahoe County 911 Authority Board and city manager of Greenwood Village. “In situations like active critical incidents, wildfires or severe weather, that can mean the difference between minutes and seconds when evacuations or interventions are needed.”

Residents and travelers to Arapahoe County are encouraged to sign up or update their information today to ensure they receive timely, actionable alerts via text, email, or voice message. Users can also set preferences for how and when they receive notifications.
